Project Drink This | How to make a decent Old Fashioned

Since being introduced to premium bourbon this year I’ve been searching for the perfect signature cocktail.

I believe I’ve found it in the Old Fashioned.

Hey, you know me… I love the classics.

My quest this summer is to find the best Old Fashioned in the city. I believe the journey will begin this weekend.

Wish me luck.

But, if your local bartender can’t make one, here’s how you make a decent Old Fashioned at home:

New Picture (4)

Ingredients:

2 dashes aromatic bitters

1/2 tsp sugar dissolved with water and bitters

2 oz premium bourbon

Instructions:

Combine the sugar, bitters and water in an Old Fashioned glass. Muddle well, add premium bourbon and stir.

Add a twist of lemon peel and ice cubes.

Enjoy.
