Yes, I talk to myself. But it’s just mind control. I’m not crazy. Really.

Oh yes my friends. I talk to myself all the time.

But it’s positive self talk.

Success can only be achieved with successful thoughts. Sometimes those thoughts come naturally, and sometimes we have to plant those seeds ourselves.

Once again, I refer to Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill (yes, I’m reading it again) where the principles of controlling your thoughts are discussed at length. In the book the term used is auto-suggestion.  In a nutshell the chapter on auto-suggestion is about guarding our conscious thoughts and training our sub-conscious to think successfully.

Put simply, if you tell yourself you can be successful, soon you’ll start believing it and acting it.

“We must guard our conscious thoughts and reject those that do not empower us towards achieving our Success.”

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!

So, there it is. Like George Costanza said,  “It’s not a lie, if you believe it.”

Well, that’s not exactly it.

I’m not saying you’re lying to yourself. But, if you think you can do something, then you can.

So talk to yourself. Encourage yourself. Be your own biggest supporter.

  1. Every time my daughter catches me talking to myself, she calls me on it. She thinks I’m crazy. I tell her, I’m my only friend….

My daughters think I’m odd for many reason. They haven’t found me talking to myself yet, but I don’t think it would surprise them if they did.

Love this post! Agree 100% that success always follows a vision/goal/idea. Cheers!
