Okay, with the New Year just around the corner, it’s time to let bygones be bygones. I forgive you NBA.
There I said it… I didn’t think I’d be able to get it out. But I said it.
Yes, I did watch a bit of basketball on Christmas Day… and yes I did watch my Raptors first game (and first win) on Boxing Day.
I know what I said. I wasn’t going to watch any basketball this season after the prolonged lock-out that cost us two months worth of ball. I nearly stopped watching the NBA entirely before the 2010/2011 season. Then the NBA delivered one of the most compelling seasons since the days of Michael Jordan. They follow this up by locking out players and almost losing an entire season? Oh, I was done with them. But I’ve come back.
I’m not sure what brought me back, but I’m back. I’m watching games and I’ve even renewed my misguided hope that the Raptors can build a winning franchise. So you can say I’m all in.
So, in the spirit of forgiveness I’m taking LeBron James and Chris Bosh off my most hated pro players list. (Sorry Vince Carter*. If I take you off the list who will keep Luis Suarez** and Antonio Davis*** company)
Let the games begin!
* Let’s be honest – Vince Carter is the only one on my most hated ball player list. I hate that guy. Sorry I just do. (Okay, I’m not sorry. I really hate that guy.)
** I have a special list for Luis Suarez (Uruguayan football loser). The biggest cheat in the 2010 World Cup, I’ll never forgive that guy. He’s on the beyond hate list.
*** Antonio Davis was taken off the hated list. I took him off when I came to the realization that it’s not a crime to be dumb. Sorry buddy, the education system let you down. It’s not your fault. But seriously, you didn’t want you kids to learn the metric system? The metric system. Hmmm…. you have to even admit now, that’s pretty dumb, right?
